HOW TO SUBMIT

Step 1

Add Category Slates

Each entry must be preceded by a 5-second slate that states the school name, the category number, and either the entry’s title or the student announcer names. Slates do not need to be complex and can be simply created with the title generator within Final Cut Pro X.

Below are some example slates for Daily News Show, Commercial, Male Announcer, and Announcing Team:

 

 

Step 2

Install Safari Montage Export Preset for Final Cut Pro

This step will walk you through how to install the Safari Montage export preset for Final Cut Pro. This process only needs to be completed once. If you have already installed the Safari Montage preset, this step can be skipped.

  1. Launch Final Cut Pro from either the Dock or Macintosh HD > Applications > Final Cut Pro.
  2. Navigate to Final Cut Pro menu > Preferences…
  3. Click Destinations tab.
  4. In the left column, select Add Destination.
  5. On the right, drag-and-drop the Compressor Settings icon to the left column.
  6. In the window that appears, expand the Custom folder.
  7. Select Safari Montage.
  8. Click OK.
  9. At the top-left, click the red circle to close the window.
Step 3

Filenames and Exporting

Entry Naming Convention

Submission filenames should be in the format “Category Number – School Name – Show Number/Entry Title/Person’s Name”.

Example titles for some categories:

  • Category 1 – Daily News Show 1
    • ex: “01 – Alta Vista Elementary – Show 1”
  • Category 2 – Commercial/PSA
    • ex: “02 – Bartow Middle – Yearbook Sale”
  • Category 4 – Male Announcer
    • ex: “04 – George Jenkins Senior – John Doe”
  • Category 6 – Announcing Team
    • ex: “06 – Fort Meade Middle – Jane Doe & John Doe”

Export using Final Cut Pro X

Each entry must be exported as a separate h.264 .mp4 video file.

  1. Open the entry’s Project.
  2. Navigate to File > Share > Safari Montage…
  3. Give the entry a name, following the naming convention outlined earlier.
  4. Click Next…
  5. Double-check that the filename is correct and adheres to the naming convention.
  6. Place the file in a location where you will know where to find it.
  7. Click Save.

After clicking Save, the file is not immediately created and will take some time to export, depending on the length. Make sure to view the export’s progress before trying to do anything to the file.

Export using Adobe Premiere Pro

Each entry must be exported as a separate h.264 .mp4 video file.

  1. Open the entry’s project.
  2. Navigate to File > Export > Media.
  3. If you have previously used Safari Montage settings, use these settings to export the entry. If not..
    1. Set Format to H.264.
    2. Under Basic Video Settings, click on Match Source.
    3. Under Bitrate Settings:
      1. Bitrate Encoding VBR: 1 Pass
      2. Target Bitrate [Mbps] : 7
      3. Maximum Bitrate [Mbps]: 8
  4. Click Export.
  5. Following the naming convention outlined earlier, rename the project.
  6. Double-check that the filename is correct and adheres to the naming convention.
  7. Place the file in a location where you will know where to find it.
Step 4

Create Account on Video Awards System

If you have already created an account, this step can be skipped. If you have forgotten your password, click here. The ITV Staff cannot reset passwords.

  1. Navigate to https://pcpsva.secure-platform.com.
  2. Click My Account.
  3. On the right, fill out the Create a New Account form. Make sure to use your @polk-fl.net email.

You will receive a confirmation email once your account is created.

Step 5

Submit an Application (Entry)

A separate application must be submitted per category entry.

  1. Navigate to https://pcpsva.secure-platform.com.
  2. Log in with your @polk-fl.net email and password.
  3. At the top, click Submit an Entry.
  4. In the Category drop-down, select the Category that you are entering.
  5. In the new drop-down that appears, select whether your school is Elementary, Middle, or Senior.
  6. In the School drop-down, select your School.
  7. In the Entry Title or Student Name(s) text field, enter one of the following:
    1. For category 1: enter either Show 1, Show 2, or Show 3.
    2. For categories 2, 3, 7-10: enter the title of the entry.
    3. For categories 4-6: enter the student(s) first and last names.
  8. Fill out any other required form fields.
  9. Choose one of the following:
    1. Save – this will save your application that will allow you to return and complete at a later time.
    2. Save and Finalize – this will submit your application for judging. The application cannot be edited, however it can be withdrawn from judging.
